hippo

I read the article "Zoo disputes hippo's death caused by trip" from The Rocky Mountain News. It talked a poor Little hippo dying because it was confined in a little truck for to long and it lost circulation to its legs and died.

This story really made me upset because they killed a defenseless hippo. I mean if i was getting transported to a zoo and i died id be pissed up in hippo heaven. The hippo probably put its trust in the people to get him to the zoo safely. I think the hippo should have had a bigger crate he shouldn't have died. Its sad enough that the hippo was going to the zoo instead of his home in the wild. Would you like to be started at all day? Seriously they should have taken a lot more precautions.

This story is so sad, what if the hippo was in alot of pain. i would hate to die a slow painful detah like this hippo did. Poor hippo.

I read the article "Abortion foes protest limits on DNC rallies" from the Rocky Mountain News. It talked about abortion and how a group of people are going to peacefully protest.

I think that abortion is a HUGE issue and usually in class my teachers prefer to just skip over it and yeah it sorta makes me upset that they just blow over it. i think it should be talked about i think that we should know the truth about it. I wish that we could discuss it and talk about how some people think its right and others think its wrong. i personally believe its wrong. abortion hurts women and there baby's. I know there's the whole well I'm only 13 and got pregnant, well if your 13 you shouldn't have had sex! Also i think that rape is a big issue but you can always have the baby and give it up for adoption. i don't know i couldn't take the life of an Innocent baby. could you?

PLN: Week 4-Post 7: grandma

I read the article "Driver Accidentally Hit Grandma" from the Rocky Mountain News. It talks about a 21 year old who accidentally backs up and hits his grandma; she died.

This reminded me of a Oprah i had once watched but the grandma had run over her 4 year old grand son. this is a serious problem. it happens alot. Also one day Sami, Shannon and I had gone to king soopers one day for lunch as we were walking out we say an older man struggling to walk. All of the sudden a bus had started to back out clueless of the old man behind her. He was hooting and hollering STOPPPPPP! STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! He was a little hard to understand. He was almost knocked down when Sami started running toward the window of the driver yelling. The driver finally stopped and realized what had happened after asking if the old man was okay we stood there for a second and watched the old man yell at the driver. I think he might have been a sailor when he was younger but that's just a guess.

Now they put cameras on the bumpers of cars so that we can see what is behind you when your backing out. I think this is magnificent! Way to save life's! Also this blog is also about death I think I need help.

PLN: Week 3-Post 6 seatbelts

I read the article "Seat Belt Use at Record High" from the Rocky Mountain News. It had said that more people then ever were wearing there seat belt.

It's illegal not wearing a seat belt an most people forget it, if people knew remembered it was illegal I think it would be more strict. Also I feel like when people get pulled over it's like they turn around and make sure that everybody in the car is wearing a seat belt or they say hurry buckle up. When you think about it is it really that hard to buckle up or would you rather die for not taking 2 seconds to put your fricken seat belt on? Seat Belts matter because its life or death. People should care because of are people are losing loved ones and friends. This is important because seat belts save lives.

Death sort of seems like a common theme from my blogs, probably because I fear death so greatly. I feel really bad about saying that when I claim I am a Christian. I as a Christian shouldn't fear death but embrace it for I get to be with Jesus. But I guess I fear most not being able to live my life, see who I end up marrying, see what job I get, pretty much just see were I go in life.

The article says that Colorado is at an all time high with 81 percent of adults wearing there seat belts. That’s pretty cool! There’s still is 19 percent of people not wearing seat belts. That just stupid.

PLN: Week 3 - Post 5 grades

I read the article "What if We Didn't Have Grades?" by Karl Fisch. It asked the question; What is your worst fear about what could happen if we did away with grades? It was based towards teachers but I thought it was a good question.

I know I've always wanted to not have grades. It's like every students dream. no grades means I don't have to do homework or come prepared to class. I mean why do homework if I'm not going to get a grade? Why sit around studying when I'm not going to get graded on my hard work and effort? Without grades there's really no incentive to learn. Grades are who we are, good grades put the nerd in nerd. I think that people get judged by there grades. If schools got rid of grades how would collages know that there excepting someone who is smart and will try to learn?

In class we recently read an article about kids who will walk miles just to go to an airport were they can have light to study. Some students here in America don't do there school work even when they have light to see. Students don't realize how fortunate we are and I think that's why we cant take away grades.

This is important because sometimes I need to have that little push to do my homework, that might sound lame but I feel that without grades most students wouldn't be doing school work. I know I probably wouldn't. grades are what keep me going, grades are what give me incentive to learn would you be a good student if you didn't have grades?

PLN: Week 2 -Post 4 bullies.

I read the article,"Stop Cyber bulling Day", from The Fischbowl, by Karl Fisch. The article was a student made video that was talking about standing up for yourself and telling someone you’re being bullied.

I've personally never been cyber bullied and I don't know of any close friends who have but I've heard about it so much I know it’s a big deal. I also remember reading an article in seventeen magazine and the story was about an girl who was cyber bullied to death, after being harassed so much she committed suicide she had been told there was no point to her life so much that she started to believe it. Most stories about cyber bullying the bullies don't even have a reason, or it's just that they want to make themselves feel better because they have a low self esteem. But that like seriously sucks, that the bully doesn’t even have enough confidence in yourself that you would have to bully someone else.

I really believe that taking a stand for yourself and speaking up when you’re getting bullied is huge! I mean sometimes it might be hard but there’s many different ways like telling a friend who will understand and take you to get help. I guess that i dont fully understand what’s happening with these people when they say there to afraid to tell someone. I mean it would be different if you were being threatened but if you weren’t I dont really see it a big deal these bullies are probably to afraid to even talk to you in person so would they really have the guts to come hurt you?

PLN: Week 2- Post 3 Never Coming Back

I read the article, "Fighting the Tide of Youth Suicide", from the rocky mountain news; written by Bill Gallo. It talks about teens committing suicide; while family and friends had no clue that there loved one would do such a thing.

Suicide is so life impacting, not only for the one who commits it but for the ones who love them. To seriously think that your life needs to be over before you even get half way through it blows my mind. Dont you want to grow up and find your true love get married get a job have kids and see where you go in life. So maybe some kids have it harder than me, I pretty much have my life planned out, I’ll graduate high school, go to collage, and get a job, but even for those people who dont have the money or family and friends to support them I dont see why you wouldn’t want to better yourself and try to make it as far as you can, and go out and live!

Just today (Wednesday the 26th) i went to a leadership conference where we talked about safety, we talked about suicide and every school there said that they had students who had committed suicide or knew about students who were on suicide watch, one student even told us about how one of her good friends had shot him self in the head in his car at the parking lot of there school, it had impacted every on of there students. it see a friends head blown off, brain spilling out and blood flowing trough his car, would be the most horrific moment of my life. I then realized that every one of ours schools had, had a suicide it was so much more like common then I had thought.

In the article it says that, Colorado has the sixth highest suicide rate in the nation, wow, sixth out of 52 states. It also said about 724 Coloradans took there life in 2006. I sort of found this all ironic that I choose this story the same time we were supposed to have our yellow ribbon assembly, I was bummed out we didn’t have it but I am looking forward to it! i wonder if teenagers who like commit suicide really think it through to the full extent, you can never come back.

Really ironic that i am sitting here talking about this and my parents are in the other room watching NCIS and its talking about a girl who commited suicide!
